Man… My heart is so full today!
This weekend I spent a lot of time looking around me and thinking back over my life thus far. I must say that this past semester of college has been my absolute favorite… I’ve witnessed God move in my life in ways I never imagined possible—He truly has opened the windows of heaven over me and taught me so much about myself and about life. Even my worst days have been turned into awesome days, just because “He is”… He is, and therefore everything is made to be more than ok. The YouVersion Bible app’s verse for today is Psalm 94:18-19—
“When I said, “My foot is slipping, Your mercy and loving-kindness,
O Lord, held me up. In the multitude of my [anxious] thoughts within me,
Your comforts cheer and delight my soul!”
I wasn’t able to stop tears once I read it… I’m just so thankful that He is who He is. My semester in a nutshell has looked like this—The Father teaching me how to stand… How to walk. Even when disobedience caused my foot to slip, His arms of love and support never left me.
I was thinking last night, “What was the highlight of this past semester for me?” I’m thankful for all of God’s blessings and revelations about Himself and others, but without a doubt… The highlight for me was the family I gained that I never saw coming! The brothers and sisters He put in my path have been absolute blessings. We’ve done a lot of laughing together, crying together, EATING together, learning from one another, and together, we’ve grown in knowledge of who Jesus is.
One of these new sisters got SAVED on Easter and BAPTIZED today; and thus the semester has closed with me being able to once again watch and reflect on the beauty of His love and grace in action– new abundant life– peace like a dove.
On top of all of this that I’m so thankful for, I’ve been thinking about my mother and all the other “mothers” in my life who have been such graceful pillars for me. I’ll never understand why I got to be the daughter of such an awesome woman, but I just know that I’m so, so grateful. I don’t know who or where I’d be without my Mama and some of these other women in my life… Truly, they are all gems to me.
Among many things, my Mama has shown me the power of prayer, the beauty of humility and a quiet spirit, the importance of forgiveness, and the impact genuine acts of service can have on others. The way she’s lived her life before me has inspired me to be a better daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend. She’s believed in me when I haven’t believed in myself, and pushed me when I definitely would have quit.
I honor all the women in my life today, and give God the highest praise for choosing to plant them around me like He has… My cup runs over. (Psalm 23:5)
“I will give You thanks with all my heart;
I will sing Your praise before the heavenly beings.
I will bow down toward Your holy temple
and give thanks to Your name
for Your constant love and truth.
You have exalted Your name
and Your promise above everything else.”
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!
